　　对于一部以赛车为题的电影来说，《速度与激情》的片名恰如其分的点出了这类电影的两大元素：以各种名牌跑车狂飙于公路的激情，还有体验着超过200KM／H的极限速度……《速度与激情》系列在经历了第三集的东京之旅之后，此次启用第一部的阵容，召回了两大明星范·迪塞尔和保罗·沃克，另外米歇尔·罗德里格兹、乔丹娜·布鲁斯特也作为女主角再度回归，谈及再次参演《速度与激情》，范·迪塞尔说说了他的豪言壮语：“这是一部让我着迷的电影，他不像我过去的作品那样有着许多惊险的动作打斗，相反的，这部电影里我的动作戏却是相比起来最不费劲的，而最危险的，恰恰是我坐着动也不动的戏份－－在高速飞驰的驾驶座上。《速度与激情4》里大部分赛车戏都是由演员亲身上阵的，它在拍摄的时候就跟观众看到的一样，的确是充满了各种未知的危险，每次拍摄之前，整个制作团队都要细致的评估可能遇到的各种风险指数，这种一丝不苟的工作态度让我很感动，所以我的意思是，我豁出去也没关系！”
　　相比之下，保罗·沃克则要调侃许多：“我在《速度与激情4》里基本只是一个说笑话的角色，导演似乎不想让这部电影看起来太让观众不易呼吸了，所以需要我来给大家逗逗乐……跟范·迪塞尔和其他演员的再次合作是一件令人高兴的事，我也很希望过去电影里的角色和故事还能够继续延续，因为我认为《速度与激情》是一部人物充满了各自灵魂的电影，他们的故事并未完结，看完前两部电影的观众会有意犹未尽的感觉，但我想如果观众看完了最新的这一集，他们可以得到解脱了，故事在这一集画上了句号。”
　　狂飙的赛车电影
　　《速度与激情》系列迄今已经走过了八年，期间的三部电影导演各有不同，而三部电影的评价也各有不同。《速度与激情》首部向来被认为是系列中最好的一部，而其后便是一部不如一部。上一部《东京漂移》已经缔造了目前为止口碑最差的一部，而本片究竟是会继续愈走愈低，抑或绝地反攻，制造出新的成功呢？本集的华裔导演林诣彬，正是执导了《速度与激情：东京漂移》的导演，提及上一集的失利，他显得非常诚恳：“在《速度与激情：东京漂移》上映之后，我听到了一切批评，我是乐于接受这些批评的，因为上一集的制作独立于前两集之外，我手头可用的资源有限，而制作成本也不能与前两集相提并论，对于第一次制作这种类型电影的我而言，也有着一些问题，不过我觉得我尽到了责任，在影片制作完毕之后，我向公司提了许多建议，大家也觉得我们可以继续这个计划，于是我们又开始了新一集《速度与激情》的制作。”
　　再度开始了《速度与激情》的故事，林诣彬说：“这次我认为故事应该与前面有所联系，而且观众应该也对于之前两集里的主角何去何从感到有所兴趣，因此《速度与激情4》的故事紧接着第二集，故事也根据前两集定下的人物关系来进行发展，相信之前的影迷会感到非常的亲切。对于这一集，我定下的目标只有两个字：更快。在这一集的筹划之始，我们要准备的就是如何把赛车的桥段拍得更加具有速度感和更加的惊险刺激，因此我们设计了各种不同的飙车戏，并且一次次的测试拍摄的可行性，这要得益于我们的飞车技术指导，他的确是非常的辛苦……另外，我想在这一集对于前面的故事做出一个总结，观众们也需要一个答案。”
